FACULTY OF ARTS > Geography :
° The Department of Geography was started in University of Lucknow in the year 2002-2003.
° Initially only Post - Graduate classes were started & 47 students were admitted in the first batch of M. A.- I in 2002-2003.
° Geography subject was also introduced at the Under-graduate level in the session 2003-2004 and 50 students were enrolled in B. A.-I.
° The JRF, NET & SLET qualified students were enrolled for Ph.D. to carry out their research work in the Department. 1st Ph. D. was awarded to Mrs. Ritu Jain in 24 Nov' 2005.
° At present the following courses are being run by the Department.
- Under –Graduate Course : 3 Years
- Post –Graduate Course. : 2 Years
- P. G. Diploma in Town & Country Planning : 1 Year (2 Semester)
- Ph. D. Programme. : 2-5 Years
°
The following courses are being planned in future:
- Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS.
- Post-Graduate Diploma in Ecology & Environment Management.
° The Department has changed & implemented the new syllabus as recommended by the UGC.
° Remote Sensing & GIS the most advance branch of Geography has been included in the syllabus of M.A.-II.
° The faculty consists of guest teachers from various institutes and degree colleges of Lucknow. All the faculty members fulfill the basic eligibility of Lectureship as per UGC rules.
° Total 19 teachers are engaged in teaching in Graduate and Post – Graduate classes & average 24 Periods have to be managed everyday in various classes & specialization.
° The Department is in contact with various institutions and organisations of allied discipline.
